| Pavel Barta was born in the Czech Republic. His dream was to become a woodcarver or a sculptor. Because it was impossible for a pastor's child to attend any art school, he decided to study surveying. In July 1989 he successfully completed his studies at the University of Mining and engineering and became a surveyor.
After the fall of the communist regime in 1989, he attended the Holar School of Art (Prague) while working as a graphic designer in a publishing house in Prague. During that time he started to consider an "escape" from computer art and became interested in "hand made art". Then his dream came partly true: he started to use materials such as wood, clay and paper to create miniature sculptures.
His first exhibition took place in Prague in 1996.
Since his arrival in Canada, soapstone has become his medium of choice. His soapstone carvings are done in a variety of sizes and mainly depict sports activities.
Canadian artist living in the beautiful city of Kelowna, British-Columbia.
Love for nature and sport became main source of inspiration for his artwork.
His unique miniature sculptures and stone carvings are created with one purpose - to create joy to those who look at them.
